Good thoughts. What I'm finding in my c...I agree! Good thoughts. What I'm finding in my churches, though, is that my assumptions about what "church" is and my congregations' assumptions about what "church" is are very different. I also believe the body of Christ should be in the world to serve (see our Great Thanksgiving!). But my congregations seem to think that all decent people ought to be in church on Sunday morning, and they can't understand what's wrong with everyone who's not. That's a bit exagerated, but the sentiment is there. I think they think that people serve God by serving the church, so they expect the community at large to serve the church.
